Maui and the giant fish - activity one

Summer Learning Journey - Activity One: The First Settlers

Maui and the giant fish

Three facts about Maui

Maui was very strong.

Maui was given a special jawbone from his ancestor Murirangawhenua. It helped Maui catch the big fish.

Maui was clever because he made a fishing line out of flax.

  1. Kia Ora Tanner,

It's awesome to see that you've begun the Summer Learning Journey. I really enjoyed reading your facts about Maui. I agree that he was very clever to have made a fishing line out of flax! Have you ever had the chance to go fishing?

Keep up the great work Tanner!

  2. Hi Georgia,
Yes I have been fishing heaps with my Dad. I didn't use a flax fishing line though I used a nylon one.

    1. That's awesome Tanner, do you have a favourite fishing spot? What kind of fish do you like to catch the most?

  3. I like fishing in the Bay of Islands. My favourite fish to catch is a snapper but one day I want to catch a hapuka.
