Koru Art

Last week we made koru art with Whaea Rose by using paper, foam. We used ink and our cardboard and foam koru's to make our art.
My Koru represents NZ and nature.
I really like my koru because the colours blend.

EQUIPMENT
AND MATERIALS:
Balloon
Cd
And a bottle cap.
PROCEDURE:
Step 1: Using a hot glue gun glue the bottle cap over the cd hole.
Step 2: blow up a balloon. When it is fully inflated twist the end so no air comes out.
Step 3:Stretch the balloon end over the bottle cap.
Step 4: Open up the cap and place the CD on a table lid.
Step 5: Untwist balloon and let go.
OBSERVATIONS/RESULTS:
I saw the balloon go smaller and smaller and the CD hover on the table.

CONCLUSION:
The air from the balloon creates a cushion of moving air between the disc and the surface. The air lifts the CD and reduces the friction which allows the CD to hover across the surface.

Maths Term 3

Title: Volume and Capacity
Label: Maths, Measurement

This week we used popcorn to learn about volume and capacity.

speech writing Term 3

For the last two weeks we have been working on writing speeches.
My topic was why Lego is best
We had to present them in front of our class.
I think I did a really good job.
Here is my speech.

Have you ever thought about what you would do with a big box of lego? Well I have. Lego is a construction toy made of plastic blocks that can be joined together. Lego gives people hours of enjoyment to create and use their imagination to build things like houses and towns. I believe lego is an important toy and here is why.

Firstly, Lego means less device time.  Lego can keep kids off their devices and give them something creative to do. They need to use their imagination so they can build big things. Kids can create things like cars, buses, trucks, and cities. Adults can also spend time and help kids put the lego pieces together.

Secondly, Lego can be used for lots of things like competitions and battles. Did you ever watch lego masters? This was a lego show where groups of people had to verse each other and build things in a time frame. One of the challenges was to build a bridge that could hold weight.

Finally, Lego can be used by people of all ages and is easy to get hold of. You can get Lego from the Warehouse, KMart, even the supermarket. There are even Lego shops, full of nothing but LEGO. Did you know there is one opening up in Auckland soon?

I believe that lego is an important toy for everyone in the world. Lego keeps kids of their devices and let their imaginations run wild.
