The Man on the Moon

For this activity, let’s imagine that you were Neil Armstrong.
On your blog, write a short poem describing how you felt when you first set
foot on the moon.

On the Moon!
Cruising in my little spaceship,
I felt a little dip.
Woah, what just happened out there,
I think we are nearly here.
I quickly land,
It looks like sand.
I am scared, what is outside,
I open the door and I glide.
I lower down,
And place my shoes on the ground.
Looks like powder on my boots,
This is going to be such a hoot.
I better get a photo on my new iphone,
Before I head home.
Click, Click, Click.
Off I go back to the beautiful cloudy world.

Brave Tanner

On your blog, recount a time when you (or someone you know) did something brave.

A recount about a time when I was brave!

A couple years ago when I was six I was riding my quad bike and I drove into the rocks and the motorbike flipped on top of me. I had to go to Kawakawa hospital to stitch my lip because I had a big cut. It was so sore. When I got home I didn't want to ride the bike anymore. But after a while I was BRAVE and I got back on, And now I never like to get off. I learnt a lesson it was to be careful on motorbikes and don't go too fast on gravel and hills.

That is a time I have been BRAVE.

Steven Adams

Imagine that you could interview LeBron James or Steven Adams.
On your blog, tell us who you would interview and write three questions that you would like to ask the basketball player.

Hi Steven, my name is Tanner. I am from New Zealand, too.
Have you travelled to many places for your basketball games? Do you enjoy the travelling? Which place is your favourite in the world?
Do you enjoy playing basketball? Do you get paid to play?
If you didn't play basketball, what would you do as a job?
What is the hardest game you have ever played?

Superhero Tanner

Imagine that you could be a superhero for a day. What three superpowers would you most like to have?
On your blog, please list the three superpowers, tell us why you have chosen each one, and tell us what you are going to do with them.

Tanner's LEGO-cy

Please choose a charity that you are interested in. You may choose your own or use one from our list (below). Read about the charity. On your blog, write a short explanation of what the charity does.
A charity is a group of people that make money or donate things to people that need it. It is for people who don't have much money. My charity helps young children who want LEGO but their parents don't have much money to buy it for them. I like my charity because all kids need LEGO. It is good for your imagination.

On your blog, please tell us about your culture.

EQUIPMENT
AND MATERIALS:
Balloon
Cd
And a bottle cap.
PROCEDURE:
Step 1: Using a hot glue gun glue the bottle cap over the cd hole.
Step 2: blow up a balloon. When it is fully inflated twist the end so no air comes out.
Step 3:Stretch the balloon end over the bottle cap.
Step 4: Open up the cap and place the CD on a table lid.
Step 5: Untwist balloon and let go.
OBSERVATIONS/RESULTS:
I saw the balloon go smaller and smaller and the CD hover on the table.

CONCLUSION:
The air from the balloon creates a cushion of moving air between the disc and the surface. The air lifts the CD and reduces the friction which allows the CD to hover across the surface.

Maths Term 3

Title: Volume and Capacity
Label: Maths, Measurement

This week we used popcorn to learn about volume and capacity.

speech writing Term 3

For the last two weeks we have been working on writing speeches.
My topic was why Lego is best
We had to present them in front of our class.
I think I did a really good job.
Here is my speech.

Have you ever thought about what you would do with a big box of lego? Well I have. Lego is a construction toy made of plastic blocks that can be joined together. Lego gives people hours of enjoyment to create and use their imagination to build things like houses and towns. I believe lego is an important toy and here is why.

Firstly, Lego means less device time.  Lego can keep kids off their devices and give them something creative to do. They need to use their imagination so they can build big things. Kids can create things like cars, buses, trucks, and cities. Adults can also spend time and help kids put the lego pieces together.

Secondly, Lego can be used for lots of things like competitions and battles. Did you ever watch lego masters? This was a lego show where groups of people had to verse each other and build things in a time frame. One of the challenges was to build a bridge that could hold weight.

Finally, Lego can be used by people of all ages and is easy to get hold of. You can get Lego from the Warehouse, KMart, even the supermarket. There are even Lego shops, full of nothing but LEGO. Did you know there is one opening up in Auckland soon?

I believe that lego is an important toy for everyone in the world. Lego keeps kids of their devices and let their imaginations run wild.

The materials I used for my Moon rover is paper cup, paper, tape.

What I like best about my Moon rover is that it landed softly on the ground.

One thing  I learned about landing on the Moon was it's landing is soft.

Here is a picture of my Moon rover landing on our school’s Moon surface.  I hope you like it!

  • The word ‘bumblebee’ is a compound word (bumble + bee). The word ‘bumble’ means to hum, buzz or drone.
  • Bumblebees can fly very quickly. They can reach ground speeds of 54 kilometres per hour (km/h).
  • Bumblebees are very strong! They carry up to 90% of their body weight in food with them to avoid starvation.
  • Bumblebees can do more work and carry more pollen than other bees, including honeybees. In fact, they can do up to 50 times as much work as a normal honeybee
